When I received an email from Bill Nye the Science Guy’s podcast producer saying that they loved my article in The Conversation and wanted to interview me for the Science Rules! podcast I was sure it was a joke.
Then when I realised it was real I fangirled. Hard!
Eventually I calmed down enough to record this episode. The experience is still one of the highlights of my life. Looking back, I would approach this interview very differently today. We weren’t all in it together. Governments around the world made decisions that had life and death consequences, often with little regard for health equity.
